Highest and lowest recorded crime rates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (August 2026)

City of London had the highest recorded crime rate of England, Wales and Northern Ireland’s 313 councils in August 2026, at 618.2 per 1,000 people.

Broadland had the lowest, at 39.3 per 1,000 people. The middle council, North Somerset, had 85.3 per 1,000 people.

48 councils have no figure, and they are listed at the end with the reason.

Rates are per resident, so places that many people work in or visit, such as Westminster, the City of London and other city centres, have far higher rates than their residents alone would suggest.
