How it is made
Open Index shows the figures as House of Commons Library publishes them, for the areas they were published for: constituencies.
Larger areas use the publisher’s own figures, never an average of smaller areas.
Zoom in past constituency level and the map keeps the constituency shapes and says so, rather than inventing detail.

Before you use it
- Turnout here is valid votes divided by the electorate, the House of Commons Library's own measure. Spoilt and rejected ballots are left out, so it is a little lower than a count of every ballot paper.
- The electorate is everyone on the electoral register for the constituency on polling day.
- By-elections held since July 2024 had their own turnouts. This layer is the general election only.
Colours on the map
Fixed breaks, held for every period, so colours mean the same over time.
