## Periods

| Council | 2025 | 2025 | 1 |

## Coverage

| Nation | Areas | With a figure |
| --- | --- | --- |
| England | 296 | 295 |
| Wales | 22 | 22 |
| Scotland | 32 | 32 |
| Northern Ireland | 11 | 0 |

Northern Ireland collisions are published by the Police Service of Northern Ireland in a different format. They are not in this layer.

## Gaps

- Northern Ireland collisions are published by the Police Service of Northern Ireland in a different format. They are not in this layer: 11 (Antrim and Newtownabbey, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Belfast, Causeway Coast and Glens, Derry City and Strabane, Fermanagh and Omagh)
- Fewer than 10 reported collisions in five years, so no rate is shown: 1 (Isles of Scilly)

## Caveats

- The rate is the number of injury collisions reported to the police in 2021 to 2025, divided by five, divided by the council's mid-2025 population, for every 1,000 people.
- Places that many people visit or commute to, such as the City of London and Westminster, have more collisions than their residents alone would suggest, so their rates look high.
- Collisions are counted where they happened, not where the people involved live.
- Collisions with no injury, and injuries that were never reported to police, are not included.
- A council with fewer than 10 reported collisions in the five years has no rate.
- Barnsley and Sheffield use a population from before April 2025 and collisions inside their boundaries today.

## Example: Hackney

In the five years to 2025, reported road collisions in Hackney averaged 2.9 per 1,000 people a year.
