## Caveats

- Health deprivation and disability is one of the seven parts of the English Indices of Deprivation. It measures the risk of dying early and of poor physical or mental health.
- Decile 1 is the most deprived tenth of neighbourhoods in England for health and disability, and decile 10 the least. A decile says where a neighbourhood sits among the others.
- The indices describe areas, not people. Many people in poor health live in neighbourhoods that are not health deprived.
- England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each measure deprivation their own way, so Open Index never ranks or compares them together.
