# Households without a car: highest and lowest councils in North East (2021)

Newcastle upon Tyne had the highest share of households without a car or van of North East’s 12 councils in 2021, at 36.6%.

Northumberland had the lowest, at 19.7%. The middle council, Hartlepool, had 29.6%.
