# Share with a degree: highest and lowest councils in North East (2021)

Newcastle upon Tyne had the highest degree-level qualifications of North East’s 12 councils in 2021, at 34.6%.

Sunderland had the lowest, at 24.6%. The middle council, Gateshead, had 28.0%.
